Firstly, I replaced the supplied kettle (mains) lead as it’s was only a metre in length and wasn’t long enough to work within my space, I work in IT so had a spare 3 metre orange one which was ideal.
Poured my first Tomato Paste Wash (ended up at 10.85% ABV) into the pot to just under the full (4 litre) mark.
Poured a cap full of ‘Distilling Conditioner’ into the pot and dropped in the ‘Ceramic Boil Enhancers’, these both help prevent boiling/surging.
Installed the ‘reflux distillation tip’ (marked with an “R”) and removed the ‘botanical basket’.
Popped a cleaned, sanitised 1 litre Kilner jar under the ‘distillation tip/spirit outlet’.
Short pressed the ‘distilling mode selector button’ to bring the unit into standby mode (indicated by the button LED turning white) and then short pressed the mode selector button again and released when the button glowed green.
A pulsing green light and 1 beep confirmed that the reflux mode run had begun.
Observations
- The first drips started at 19:40 (ish), this was after the four shoots glass had been filled.
- The first 100ml or so smelt quite sweet.
- The run finished approximately at 22:20
