After watching numerous distilling YouTube videos (mostly of New Zealanders🙂?) I decided to take the plunge and purchase an Air Still Pro made by Still Spirits.
The Still Spirits Air Still Pro (again, designed in New Zealand) is a versatile and easy-to-use distillation device designed for both beginners and advanced distillers. It operates in two modes: Reflux and Pot Still. In Reflux mode, it can produce clean, neutral spirits with an alcohol by volume (ABV) of up to 90%. In Pot Still mode, it can create flavoursome or botanical-infused spirits with an ABV of up to 80%.
Key features of the Air Still Pro include:
- A built-in reflux condenser and a purpose-built botanical basket.
- An automatic foreshots collection vial that captures the first 30 ml of distillate, improving safety and simplifying the process.
- The ability to cool itself without requiring an external cooling source.
- A capacity of 4 litres, yielding approximately 1.1 litres of 40% ABV alcohol per 4-litre wash.
